Храм Богородицы Стовратной
Храм Панагия Екатодапилиани, также известный как Храм Богородицы Стовратной - это ранневизантийский церковный комплекс, который находится в городке Парикия, столице острова Парос. Этот храм считается старейшим в Греции. Своим названием он обязан мифу. Считается, что христиане нашли и открыли 99 ворот, но одни по-прежнему не найдены. Когда им удастся отыскать их - Константинополь снова будет принадлежать православным христианам.
Храм был возведен в 326 году предположительно Святой Еленой, матерью императора Константина Великого, правившего в 306-337 годах. Во время своего паломничества на Святую Землю, Елена остановилась на острове, что бы поклониться в часовне. Сейчас это храм с двумя приделами и баптистерий. По величине он второй в Эгейском море. Самый большой - это храм Мегалохаре, расположенный на соседнем острове Тинос.
Каждое 15 августа, в день Успения Девы Марии, этот храм становится центром притяжения местных жителей и туристов, пришедших увидеть традиционные религиозные обряды.
Храм расположен всего в пяти минутах ходьбы от порта.

Panayia Ekatontapyliani
The magnificent Panayia Ekatontapyliani (also known as the Church of Our Lady of One Hundred Gates) is a historic Byzantine church complex in Paroikia town, the capital of Paros island. The location of the church is very close to the port, about 5 minutes walking. It is one of the oldest Christian temples in Greece. The myth says that they have found and open 99 gates but one is still closed and missing. When they will find the last one then Constantinople will belong to the Christian Orthodox again.
The sacred temple dates to 326 AC and it was purportedly founded by the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great (ruled 306-337 AC), Saint Helen, during her pilgrimage to the Holy Land when she stopped to worship at a chapel on the island. It contains a main chapel surrounded by two more chapels and a baptistery with a cruciform font. It’s one of the biggest churches in Aegean, second only to the famed Megalochare church on nearby Tinos Island.
Every 15th August the island of Paros commemorates the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (Panayia) and the church celebrates with traditional religious ceremonies attracting many people including local and tourists and this is an experience not to miss.
How to get there: All year round, there daily boats to Paros from the port of Piraeus, while in the summer, there are connections from the ports of Rafina & Lavrio; trip duration is 3-6 hours, depending on the type of boat. Air-connections exist all year round, from Athens airport with Aegean Airlines (flight is approx. 30min.), while in the summer there are charter connections from various European cities.
