Пасалимани

Пасалимани - это место, где деньги валяются под ногами. Шутка, конечно, хотя автор этих строк и вправду нашел на набережной 40 евро. Палисамани, право же, интересна не этим.

Это большая красивая гавань, расположенная на восточной стороне полуострова Пирей. Нет, мы не ошиблись: Пирей – это не только город, но и полуостров. Ну, и порт, конечно, из которого, как известно, можно уехать (уплыть, а, точнее, уйти) на любой из нескольких тысяч греческих островов. Так вот, Палисамани, нежно именуемая "Жемчужиной Пирея" – это место из-за которого можно и остаться. Тут и причалы для яхт, и замечательная набережная с ресторанами - излюбленное место прогулок местных жителей и ´гостей городаª, - и морской музей. Ну а любители путешествий могут удовлетворить свою страсть, воспользовавшись знаменитыми "Летающими дельфинами", небольшими быстроходными прогулочными судами, доставляющих туристов на острова Саронического залива. И обратно.

Из Афин можно добраться сюда на метро: станция Pireus.

Also known as Marina of Zea, it is located at the eastern coast of Piraeus peninsula. Actually, the name Pasalimani (which means The Pasha’s Port) comes from the years of the Ottoman Rule, as it was the port of the Ottoman Fleet. Going even more back in history, in the ancient times, the port was one of the naval dockyards of ancient Athens. Dozens of Shipsheds, the buildings for storage and repair of triremes, were on the perimeter of the “horseshoe” that forms the harbor. Some of those buildings still exist in the area. The “mouth” of the harbor was closed by a coastal wall and two square towers in the water, which defined the entrance to the Naval Station. Nowadays Pasalimani is a cosmopolitan spot and its marina, with a berthing capacity of 670 boats, hosts luxurious yachts, while during the Olympic Games of 2004, it was used as an Olympic hospitality space. They call it “Jewel of Piraeus” - not in vain. The area within and outside the marina is “a breath” for both visitors and residents, because it is ideal for walking in the charming cobblestone street with the palms. Dozens of cafes, ouzo taverns, restaurants and bars are lined up, offering endless options for dining and entertainment. In a few words, the heart of Piraeus beats in Pasalimani.

 

How to get there: From the Port of Piraeus, by bus with starting point the Piraeus Metro Station, or by taxi.
