Galaxidi
As it is one of the most beautiful seaside villages of the prefecture Phocis and so close to Athens, it is no wonder that it is a popular weekend retreat.  Its proximity to Arachova, the famous winter destination of the area, makes Galaxidi also ideal for visit even during the winter. It has been characterized as a traditional settlement since 1978, as the inhabitants made sure from the beginning to keep intact the local architecture. The beautiful buildings with the tiled roofs and the cute carved balconies dominate the village, while even the shops are housed in traditional houses, so nothing can spoil the architectural harmony. Galaxidi has two harbors: The main harbor provides docking facilities for yachts and small fishing boats, and the smaller one is Chirolaka, which is located where in ancient times there was the first organized port area. On the rocky shoreline by the side of the larger harbor, there is a pine forest which was planted by school children in the early twentieth century and worth a visit. As for the road that passes in front of the sea, it is picturesque and full of lovely cafes and taverns –ideal for a walk, before you enjoy the delicious local specialties.
