Цагарада
Название деревни в Пелионе под названием Цагарада (Tsagkarada) имеет славянские корни. Дословно переводится как “Прекрасная богиня”. Возможно потому, что это крупнейшая и самая известная деревня в этом регионе. Расположена она на северо-восточном склоне горы на высоте 500 метров и все здесь, в общем, как и в любой другой деревне в округе - лабиринты мощеных улиц, милые домики, потрясающие виды. С одной лишь разницей - масштабом. Портарья или Макреница - деревни почти игрушечные по сравнению с Цагарадой. Состоит она из четырех районов - название каждого из них соответствует имени храма: Святых Архангелов, Святой Пятницы, Святого Стефана и Святого Воскресенья. Если надумали остановиться здесь - безусловно будет где погулять (безо всякой машины). Еще одна немаловажная деталь - Цагарада расположена относительно недалеко от пляжей Пелиона. А их немало: Милопотамос Факистра, Каравостасия Дамухари. А местные леса известны не только тем, что когда-то тут жили кентавры, но и тем, что здесь водятся грибы. На известный вопрос героя “Осеннего марафона” по поводу грибных лесов за рубежом в случае с Цагарадой с уверенностью можно ответить утвердительно. Именно поэтому это место популярно все двенадцать месяцев в году.

Tsagarada
The name Tsagarada in Slavic means “beautiful goddess”. Could it be the breathtaking views towards the Aegean Sea? The dense vegetation which makes this place heavenly? The Sunrise and the Full Moon that here seem magical? Tsagarada is known as the emerald of Pelion and it is the most famous part of the region. It is located on the northeastern side of the mountain at an altitude of 500 meters. It has a real labyrinth of cobbled streets, paths, rural and paved roads which lead in all directions, inviting the visitors to explore them. The residential area extends primarily to the foot of the mountain and the various beaches. Talking about the beaches, Mylopotamos, Fakistra, Karavostasia and Damouhari are among the best of Pelion. Tsagarada consists of four neighborhoods, which got their name from the temples located in the corresponding squares: Holy Archangels, Holy Friday (capital of the village and the municipality Mouresiou), St. Stephen and St. Sunday. Everywhere in Tsagarada you can see towering chestnut, plane trees, beech, oak, cherry, lime, holly (ghee), sloes, alder, ivy, strawberry trees, dogwood, oleanders, firs, maples, hydrangeas, sorb apple, acacia trees, vines, camellias, mulberries, olives, elms, gardenias, myrtles, lilacs and thousands of other species of Greek flora, as large varieties of mushrooms. No wonder that Tsagarada is a popular tourist destination throughout the year.
How to get there: By car from Athens (distance 366 km) via E75. From Thessaloniki (distance 259 km) via A1 and E75. From Volos (distance 49,1) via ΕΟ34 and Provencial Road Neochori-Tsagkarada. By bus: Regular daily routes from and to Volos.
