Лимени
На Пелопоннесе есть одна область под названием Мани. Это своего рода аналог Загорохорьи в Эпире. Одна из живописнейших деревень этого региона называется Лимени. Она расположена на берегу моря, неподалеку (5 км) от естественной бухты Ареополис. Когда-то это место активно использовалось пиратами, о чем в наши дни напоминает название одного из местных ресторанов. Что же касается истории относительно новой - именно сюда прибыла эскадра под командованием Федора Орлова 17 февраля 1770 года во время восстания греков в период русско-турецкой войны 1768-1774 годов.
Одна из могущественных семей всего региона Мани семья Мавромихалис владела всей деревней Лимени. Так как представители семьи приняли непосредственное участие в освободительной войне 1821 года тут, в семейном замке располагался один из штабов повстанцев. В наши дни в этом замке находится гостиница.
В последние года Лимени переживает туристический бум, что положительно сказывается на инфраструктуре и качестве оказываемых услуг. Например, помимо традиционных таверн тут есть и немало ресторанов класса люкс, а многие из здешних пляжей отмечены Голубым флагом. Кстати, в I веке нашей эры тут, в 30 метрах от берега произошло грандиозное кораблекрушение.
Что касается других достопримечательностей этой деревни - то безусловно стоит посетить построенный в 1731 году монастырь Панагия Эвретрия.

- на машине из Ареополиса (4,5 км) по местной трассе Каламата-Арэополис
- на автобусе из Афин с автовокзала Кифисью до Арополиса, далее местным автобусом до Лимени

Limeni
Traditional houses built almost on the sea and a fabulous landscape is an irresistible combination which makes Limeni one of the most beautiful villages of Mani. It is the natural seaport of Areopolis which is located about 5 km away. Known as a safe moorage since the years of antiquity, Limeni later was also used as a pirate base. And let’s not forget that here is where a naval squadron of the Russian fleet under Theodore Orlov had sailed on February 17, 1770, during the revolt of the Greeks at the time of the Russo-Turkish War (1768-1774).
Limeni used to be the base of the family Mavromichalis, one of the hegemonic great families of Mani, who excelled in the liberating struggle of 1821 and the political life of Greece. The imposing Mavromichalis Tower, which was the mansion of the family and nowadays is a hotel, was the headquarters of the people of Mani before and during the Greek Revolution. Yes, this beautiful place has its own great history, as the most places in Greece.
In the recent years Limeni met a rapid tourist development. Dozens of hotels, guest houses, restaurants and taverns keep springing in the village, promising an ideal stay. Although the biggest part of the beach is rocky, the crystal clear waters are awarded with the Blue Flag, so swimming is one of the things you can also do in Limeni.
As for the other sights of the village, the Monastery of Panagia Evretria, built in 1731 with a cross-roofed church and folk art paintings, and the great Roman shipwreck of the 1st BC century, which is located about 30 meters from the shore, are among the places you should visit.
