Ровиес
Место под названием Ровиес часто называют “раем эвбейского залива”. Это не случайно. Этот живописный приморский поселок был построен в месте, окруженным двумя покрытыми хвоей горами Телетрио и Каваларис. Местная традиционная архитектура отнюдь не испорчена новыми постройками, а местные сады только дополняют общую картину благолепия. В самом центре поселка вы увидите венецианскую башню - то что осталось здесь от венецианской эпохи. Она была построена в 1256 году Вильгельмом II Виллардуэном. Впрочем, история Ровиеса началась задолго до венецианцев. Согласно древнегреческому историку Фикидиду на этом месте в древности находился город Ороваи, в котором был собственный оракул. К сожалению оракул, который тогда располагался на горе Телетрио был полностью разрушен землетрясением. Та же судьба постигла и сам город, находящийся в низине. Произошло это в период Пелопоннесской войны - 431-404 года до н. э..
Особенно любима туристами в Ровиесе простирающаяся неподалеку от деревни внушительная оливковая роща. Здесь же находится сельскохозяйственное товарищество, производящие множество видов продуктов. Местные оливки, например, могут быть с разными начинками. Не менее популярны и местные пляжи, среди которых есть и прекрасно организованные. А в зимний период сюда приезжают ради прогулок по окрестным лесам - ведь Эвбея очень зеленый остров. И конечно же здесь есть немало таверн, кафе и гостиниц.

- на машине из Халкиды (86,4 км) по трассам Халкида-Эдипсос и Строфилия-Ровиес
- на машине из Агия Анна (26,6 км) по трассе Строфилия-Ровиес

Rovies
They call it “Paradise of the Euboean Gulf”. Built in the “arrow” that is formed by the overgrown mountains Telethrio and Kavalaris, Rovies in the North Euboea is definitely a lovely village, surrounded by a rich forest which ends to the sea. All the picturesque houses of Rovies have flourished courtyards and gardens, adding more color in the already overgrown location. In the center of the village, among the flourished houses, there is the Tower of Rovies, a proud remnant from the Venetian Era, built around 1256 by William II of Villehardouin. It is no wonder that this village is listed among the most poplular touristic destinations in Euboea.
According to the great ancient Greek historian Thucydides, in the antiquity, at the site of Rovies there was the ancient town Oroviai, which even had its own oracle, dedicated to Selinountas Apollo. The oracle was built on the mountain Telethrio, but it was destroyed by an earthquake, as the whole ancient town around the times of the Peloponnesian Wars.
One of the highlights of Rovies (especially for the lovers of nature and olive oil) is the vast olive grove that extends a few meters from the village. It is cultivated by the villagers who have founded the Agricultural Collaboration of Rovies. Among its delicious products, there are the famous green olives, either plain or stuffed (with red pepper or almond or garlic or lemon). Yummy! So now you know what kind of souvenirs you will buy from Rovies.
The beach of Rovies is naturally the largest attraction of the village and one of the most popular of the region. Mostly sandy, with small pebbles, it is super organized and extends in front of the crystal clear waters of the Euboean Gulf. Plenty of accommodations, cafes and taverns complete the picture.
Something you should also know is that although Rovies is a mainly summer destination, it is equally attractive in the winter. Even if you cannot enjoy the sea (unless you are a winter swimmer), you can always enjoy the hiking in the pathways that begin from the village and lead you in locations of unique beauty.
