Греческий флаг в акрополе

Во время немецкой оккупации, в ночь с 30 на 31 мая 1941 года Лакис Сантас и Манолис Глезос взобрались на охраняемую немцами территорию Акрополя, бесстрашно сорвали немецкий флаг со свастикой и водрузили греческий. Они намеренно оставили отпечатки пальцев что бы в этом поступке не обвинили греческих охранников. Лакис Сантас скончался в 2011 году, в то время как Манолис Глезос по-прежнему здравствует и ведет активную политическую жизнь как депутат от правящей партии Сириза. Это был один из важнейших моментов в новой истории Акрополя. И сегодня флаг Греции гордо развевается на том же самом месте как бы глядя с высоты на Афины.

Flashback to the modern Greek history: The time of the German occupation, the night between May 30 and 31, 1941, two mighty Greeks, Lakis Santas and Manolis Glezos, climbed in the guarded by the Germans rock of the Acropolis. Without fear, they took down the German flag and raised the Greek flag. They were so proud of their act and so brave, that they left purposely their fingerprints on the mast, so the Greeks guards not to be blamed. This is one of the most important and heroic moments of the modern history of Acropolis. Today Manolis Glezos is MEP of SYRIZA, while Lakis Santas died in 2011. The Greek flag keeps flying proudly on the highest point of the sacred rock, overlooking Athens from above.
