Pyramid of Hellenikon
Driving in the rural roads of the vast Argolic plain, with the golden orange trees during the winter and the delicious melons during the summer, near the village Kephalari and the springs of the Erasinos river, you will suddenly feel like you had just transferred in Egypt. Why? Because you will see a small pyramid -known as the Pyramid of Argolis or Pyramid of Hellenikon. Whatever you call it, however, this rare monument is Pyramid for sure.

It was built at the end of the 4th century BC and is one of the most well preserved pyramids in the Helladic area -oh yes, it is not the only one in Greece. The theories about its use are variable. According to Pausanias (the great Greek traveler and geographer of the 2nd century AD), this pyramid was a burial monument. According to other theories however, it had been used as a fort to control the roads, as tower of defense or even as an altar.

The impressive monument is built entirely of gray limestone and its main entrance is located on its east side, facing the Argolic bay.
