Вид на Афины из Акрополя

К сожалению в Афинах нет, что называется, мест полного погружения в античность. Для этого придется ехать куда-нибудь в Олимпию, например, или на худой конец в Сунио. Здесь же все время какие-то элементы и детали цивилизации отвлекают взгляд. И приходится мысленно пытаться абстрагироваться от наших дней. И Акрополь в этом плане не исключение. Впрочем в этом тоже есть свои плюсы: прочувствовать величие Парфенона можно как раз “на контрасте” с цивилизацией. Тут расположена одна из лучших (лучше считается только вид с горы Ликавитос - собственно благодаря возможности разглядывать сам Парфенон) смотровых площадок города, с которой, кстати сказать, видны и многие другие памятники античности - Храм Зевса Олимпийского, например. Храм Гефеста - наиболее хорошо сохранившийся храм античности на Древней Агоре, здание национальной обсерватории, здание греческого парламента, Монастираки, Национальный сад, дома Анафьотики, Плака - проще было бы сказать, что отсюда увидеть нельзя. И гора Ликавитус видна. Та, с которой лучший вид на Акрополь. И нескончаемые каменные джунгли до горизонта. Без них никуда.

Athens looks lovely from above, when it is viewed from the sacred rock of the Acropolis. Are you ready for a small tour? With the Erechtheion behind us, under our feet we can see the picturesque neighborhood of Anafiotika, the impressive Tower of the Winds, the Church of the Holy Apostles, the Roman Agora, the Hadrian’s Library and the Monastiraki Square. Looking a little more to the right, there are the imposing Cathedral, the beautiful Plaka and the green hill of Strefi. We’re moving a bit to the left, just to admire the Ancient Agora, the Temple of Hephaestus and the neighborhood of Thiseio, which is also known as the Neighborhood of the Angels. Behind the high buildings of the city, the Lycabettus Hill stands proudly. Gazing from the Acropolis, the Areospagus hill, the beautiful Church of St. Marina, the Hill of Nymphaeums and the National Observatory of Athens seem to lie very close to each other. As for the mountain we can see in the background is the Mount Egaleo. Standing to another point of the Acropolis, what we can see are the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Gate and the Kallimarmaron, the ancient city stadium. And if we move to a different spot, we can see the Greek Parliament and the amazing National Gardens. The whole city is under our feet. Are you ready now to explore all these beautiful places?
